The elastic ribbon description of DNA

For stretches of DNA longer than 20 basepairs, it is infeasible to run atomistic level simulations. In our reduced order model, all-atoms structure is replaced by a continuous twisted rod model which inherits the influence of the sequence of basepairs via a naturally bent reference state.

The same reduction is applied to a 200 bp minicircle bound to a small protein.
