1-  General Philosophy of the Course

An intensive introduction to the methods of modelling and numerically simulating the structures of biological macromolecules,
particularly nucleic acids and polymerized protein structures, coiled-coil molecules.
 
 
 

REMARKS  In 2002--2003 there is one course which gives credit in the two Doctoral Schools :Mathematics (MA-05) and Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CH-12).  It is planned that this course will be given once only. Note: The Chemistry Doctoral School courses title "Mathematical Modelling of DNA" parts I and II (CH-10 and CH-11) correspond to the Second Cycle of Mathematics courses  (i.e. a lower level mathematical content than the current course), and will be given regularly every other year Starting in 2003--2004. The room details have changed. If you cannot attend at these times but would like to follow the course, please send an email to Cedric Vaillant or attend at least the first class meeting. During the first meeting, we will discuss the possibility of changing the meeting times. Moreover,  the precise course syllabus, e.g. weights and level of discussion of different topics, will be set as a function of the backgrounds of the enrollees as determined during the first class meeting.
