MC2 Visualization Tool Developed
at LCVMMC2, which is an acronym for Multiplier and Constraint Continuation, is a visualization package that allows the interactive steering of two parameter continuation calculations. The authors are Maddocks and Mesztenyi and the graphics are implemented as AVS5 modules.
Much of the MC2 paradigm applies to any two parameter continuation
problem, but the code is optimized for the calculation of two dimensional
families of critical points in constrained variational principles, such
as those displayed in the two projected bifurcation diagrams
in the MC2 graphic shown here and in an mpeg movie .
The different colors of the multi-sheeted surfaces encode stability exchanges, and are also related to cusps and lines of inflexion in the two distinguished projections shown here.
MC2 is further described in two articles :
IJBC
article 1997,
IMA
article 1995.
