Features of parameter continuation

a) Even for quite small underlying problems, parameter continuation can lead to large computations because the problem is solved at many different sets of parameter values .

b) Parameter continuation algorithms are amenable to parallelization in two ways: a coarse grain, low-communication, parallelization over differing parameter values, and a more standard, fine grain, high-communication parallelization of the iterative solution method at fixed parameter values.

c) When running continuation algorithms it can be rather easy to get 'lost' in uninteresting regions of parameter space
