Many important problems in mathematics, science and engineering
contain parameters. It is then desirable to understand the set of solutions
as the parameters are varied. For nonlinear equilibrium or steady-state
problems Numerical Continuation Methods are a very powerful way to do this.
In our group we use this approach extensively in our modelling of the mechanical
properties of small DNA molecules.
